Malawi: New 5,000 Kwacha 2026 Variety Confirmed
A new variety of Malawi’s 5,000-kwacha banknote has been confirmed. Catalogued by BanknoteNews as B165e, the note follows the previous B165c variety but carries an updated signature and a new date.
The banknote is dated 1 January 2026 and bears the signature of Reserve Bank of Malawi governor MacDonald Mafuta Mwale. Therefore, collectors examining recent 5,000-kwacha notes should pay attention to both the signature and printed date rather than relying only on the overall design.

Philippines: New 50- and 100-Piso 2026 Notes
Two new-dated Philippine banknote varieties have been confirmed in August. Both belong to the country’s established New Generation Currency family and retain the familiar designs, while introducing a 2026 date. For collectors, that small detail creates two new varieties to watch for.
50 Piso 2026
The new 50-piso variety is catalogued by BanknoteNews as B1101d. It follows B1101c, with the principal identifying change being the new 2026 date.
100 Piso 2026
The 100-piso note has also appeared with a 2026 date. BanknoteNews identifies the newly confirmed variety as B1102f, following B1102e.
Algeria: New Signature Variety of the 1,000 Dinars
Algeria’s 1,000-dinar banknote has received a newly confirmed signature variety. The overall banknote design remains familiar, so the important identification detail is found in the signatures.
BanknoteNews identifies the variety as B411c. Compared with B411b, the note carries the new Delindi/Lebbou signature combination.
Dominican Republic: New-Dated 50 and 100 Pesos
Collectors of Dominican banknotes have two additional date varieties to look for. Both the 50- and 100-peso dominicano denominations have now been confirmed with a 2025 date.
Nepal: 500 Rupees 2025 Variety Enters Circulation
Nepal’s 500-rupee banknote dated 2025 is another important addition to this month’s list. The newly confirmed variety is identified by BanknoteNews as B292c.
Compared with B292b, the note introduces both a new date and a new signature, identified as that of Poudel. More importantly, its circulation can be tied to a specific official announcement.
Nepal Rastra Bank’s Currency Management Department published its notice concerning the circulation of the 500-rupee denomination on 17 June 2026.
For collectors, this makes the note particularly useful when documenting the chronology of Nepal’s recent currency varieties.
Guatemala: New 10- and 20-Quetzal Varieties Confirmed
Two additional Guatemalan banknote varieties joined the August 2026 list. Both carry the date 7 February 2024 and the updated Cáceres/González signature combination.
Although the designs are based on earlier issues, the combination of a new printed date and new signatures provides clear catalogue identifiers for collectors.
10 Quetzales
The new 10-quetzal variety carries the date 7 DE FEBRERO DE 2024 and the new Cáceres/González signature combination.
20 Quetzales
The corresponding 20-quetzal variety is catalogued as BNB B608h and carries the same date and Cáceres/González signatures.
Burundi: Updated 5,000- and 10,000-Franc Notes
Two high-denomination Burundi banknotes have been confirmed with the same important update: a new signature combination together with the date 24 January 2025.
5,000 Francs
The new variety is identified as B244b. It carries the signatures of Irène Kabura Murihano and Edouard Normand Bigendako, together with the date 24 January 2025.
10,000 Francs
The corresponding 10,000-franc variety is catalogued as B245b and carries the same signature combination and 24 January 2025 date.
Indonesia: 100,000 Rupiah Appears With a 2026 Date
Indonesia’s current 100,000-rupiah banknote has now been confirmed with a 2026 printing date, adding another collectible variety to the country’s current banknote series.
The newly reported version is catalogued as BNB B623e. The overall design remains unchanged, while the printing information identifies the new production year.
Look at the lower-left portion of the reverse. The new variety carries the printing mark PERURI TC 2026.
Previous examples are known with 2022, 2023, 2024 and 2025 printing dates. Collectors assembling date varieties can therefore add a new 2026 version to the sequence.
Guinea-Bissau: New 2025 Variety of the 1,000 Francs CFA
A new date variety of the West African States 1,000-franc CFA banknote has been confirmed for Guinea-Bissau.
The note is catalogued as BNB B121Sy and follows B121Sx. Its main catalogue distinction is the new 2025 production year.
The letter S identifies Guinea-Bissau within the BCEAO system. The first two digits of the control number indicate the production or issue year. On the illustrated note the control number begins with 25, corresponding to 2025.
This is a particularly useful detail for collectors because the country and production year are not communicated through a dramatically different banknote design. They have to be read from the denomination’s identifying codes.
Uruguay: 200 Pesos Gets More Than a Date Change
Among the August updates, Uruguay’s latest 200-peso banknote stands out because several identifying features have changed rather than only the printed year.
The newly confirmed variety, identified as B555c, belongs to Series H 2025 and carries the new Christy/Tolosa signature combination.
