This authentic Belgian 20 Francs banknote was issued by the Belgian Treasury during the reign of King Leopold III. Its elegant lilac, violet and blue design celebrates two important Renaissance composers connected with the Low Countries.
Obverse design
The obverse features a central portrait of Roland de Lassus, one of the most influential composers of the late Renaissance. The design uses lilac, violet and blue tones, with French-language inscriptions and the denomination prominently displayed.
Reverse design
The reverse depicts composer Philippus de Monte, surrounded by Dutch-language inscriptions. Together, the two portraits give the banknote a distinctive musical and cultural identity.
Design and security features
The banknote was designed by Louis Buisseret and engraved by Georges Régnier. Its watermark shows a profile portrait of King Leopold III.
Condition
